Welcome!
Since my last blog on 3-14-17, I have been hard at work writing the 7-week freshman (Non-chemical) curriculum for my beauty school. I am sensing a real push to get it done. Again, I am so thankful I taught the freshman class over and over again. I planned the schedule for the 7-week course out on a planner, causing the rest of my job writing the curriculum to fall into place.
As I type the curriculum I am being reminded of little nuggets I once taught that are not necessarily in the Cosmetology book, those years behind the chair taught me extra important pieces of information that I'm adding. I am keeping everything as consistent as possible, a lot of copy and paste. ;-)
I have also received my fourth and I believe the final proof copy of my first book "So Thankful! Life Behind The Posts" I am really happy with the overall look of the cover now, and, I am expecting the certificate for my copyright any day. I am totally in awe of God! Not in all my life did I ever image I would be writing a book, let alone multiple books and curriculum.
In another book that I'm writing titled "I AM" (which I will pick up again, continue, and hopefully finish soon after I complete the curriculum). I tell that story, for the first time.
As I was getting closer to the completion of my first book, "So Thankful! Life Behind The Posts", part of my vision was to have a website as a way of connection with the purchase of the book. I am currently working with a friend who generously offered to help me create a website for that and other purposes. As God expands me, I will expand the website. Thankfully everything for the website, for now, is 99% complete. The other 1% hopefully will be done by weeks end.
I am greatful to all of you who take the time to read these blogs! I have noticed that my audience has expanded beyond the United States, to ALL OF YOU, THANK YOU!

I am still moving forward, putting together the book "Behind closed doors" the proceeds will go to help fight human trafficking, and to help women and children in abusive situations in any way needed.

Welcome!
Since my blog on 3-8-17, I not only received word concerning the cover of my book, "So Thankful! Life Behind The Posts" last night, I ordered the fourth and hopefully final proof copy.
It is amazing to me, in a sad way! That as I have been working to get the word out, looking for those who have survived abuse and are willing to tell their story for the book I am putting together titled, "Behind closed doors" to help fight human trafficking and other abusive situations. That I really don't have to look anywhere, because I am surrounded by the survivors of abuse. A few of the ones I have talked to have the strength and are willing to share their stories. Others, understandably, do not choose to do so. Reliving the pain of abuse is NOT an easy thing, for some, it's simply not the right time, for others it may be a survival mechanism. No matter the reason, it's touch!
Yesterday, as I sat with a young lady, as she was sharing her story with me, what I personally thought would be a one to a two-hour meeting, ended up to being four hours. SHE IS AMAZING, SHE IS STRONG, AND SHE IS A SURVIVOR! I am So incredibly proud of her!
As she and I were discussing the book I mentioned to her that one of the things that I hope and pray the book will do is bring awareness (red flags) that someone reading it would see a pattern or perhaps recognize that something may be off in their own relationship and walk or even run the other way without looking back.
The more I hear about abuse, and the more I investigate its origin, I am convinced it's a vicious cycle, passed from one generation to the next. with which generation will it stop? Hopefully, the present one!
I am learning the following statements to be SO TRUE, you attract what you are used to, and what you are comfortable with. Another statement from a popular author is as follows "We are as sick as the secrets we keep" to me, that's deep! the second statement shows me, that secrets held inside can cost us more than we want to pay. (that's probably another book all by its self)
I have a friend who was raised totally different than I was, her home was strict, mine was not. Her parents were guarded when it came to sleepovers and would not allow them. In my home sleepovers were allowed. My parents were not guarded, or aware. The difference was costly.
Abuse has always been a part of society, I am not sure if it's getting worse, or if everyone is simply more aware of it due to social media, but it sickens me! When I hear of a child or women being abused, it causes me to want to hurt the perpetrator, but then, I would be no better than they are. So, to me, the book "Behind closed doors" is one way for me to fight back for those who cannot yet fight.
I am aware of the fact that women are not the only victims of abuse. I have not only considered but decided to open "Behind closed doors" to men's stories of abuse also. Abuse knows no gender, age or color and happens all around the world:(...

Welcome!
Since my last blog on 2-28-16, my birthday has come and gone without the publishing of my 1st book "So Thankful! Life Behind The Posts". The cover simply wasn't correct in three separate areas. After talking on the phone with the printing company and sending an email to my designer, I am waiting for a word as to where this issue will be resolved, in the hands of the printing company, or my designer.
While I am waiting to move forward with the publishing of my book, I am focusing my attention on writing the (freshman "non-chemical" curriculum) for my Beauty School. Even though I know the order that is favorable to teach (in my opinion) meaning, which basic haircut to start with first leading into the second, third, and forth. And when during the education process to introduce shampooing, thermal styling and so forth. I needed to be organized on paper, with introducing theory chapters, exams, practicals,and homework. Now that I have that 95% done on paper I can proceed and make sure everything is in order in my files, then finish the remaining weeks.
I recorded a show a few days ago on a Christian Network that hit home with me in a few areas. The author of a popular book was explaining the meaning behind it. All of the situations in the book were metaphors for different situations in his life. I read the book he was narrating through about 10 years ago. He originally wrote his story For his kids for Christmas, making a few extra copies for others to read. His story fell into the right hands, a few people who read it talked to him about publishing it. However, publishing companies would not pick it up to publish. He asked his friends how hard could publishing be? So, they decided to self-publish. long story short, the book is a best seller, having had a movie made from it. Hearing his story of self-publishing gives me hope of the possibilities for not only my first book, but also, the others that are in the making.
