Welcome!

Well, life has been interesting, to say the least.

I realize everything happens for a reason, And I know not to sweat the small stuff, whether I like the situation or not, just breath and let it go. Although letting it go does not necessarily mean doing nothing, but simply not to react, but take action. And that is precisely what  I am doing.

While trying to organize my office further, I unplugged my modem to reconnect to a different power source only to have my modem decide to quit working, so, I have been without WI-FI for about a week. It's been no fun and unproductive.

Another situation in which I had to breath and let it go was concerning the second proof copy of my book "So Thankful! Life Behind the Posts". It arrived the other day, and as I looked at the front cover I noticed the design had been slightly altered, therefore, I need to have either the designer fix it or have an all new cover designed. The situation with my book cover is becoming a frustration. If the design adjustments can't  be made, then I believe a new design will be in order. I am simply taking a breath and waiting for my designer to get back in the country to know which direction I need to go. I really believe everything happens for a reason. Although I was originally trying to have it published on black Friday 2016, it is happening in Gods timing, not mine, and, I want it done right. In the many years in the hair industry, both behind the chair and teaching, I always said to myself and my students, your name is on every head of hair that goes out that door, I feel the very same way concerning this book. Only it's much more than my name literally being on the book, my life is between the covers. Out of respect for myself, I want it done right. If it means it requires more time, then it requires more time.

I have had a few family members ask me if I am excited about my book being published, they are surprised to hear my answer as being, No, until they hear the "why" behind the no. Once "So Thankful! Life Behind the Posts" is actually published, my life, my business, will actually be out there for the whole world to read. So, I take the frustrating distraction of the cover to my book as a blessing in disguise giving more time to emotionally prepare. Even though I was respectful of everyone in my book, I put myself out there, and that's ok! The few that know me and that have proof read a bit of the book, have simply said, "wow, you have no idea how many people this book will help". That makes it all worth it to me!

I need to catch up on business, and this blog is the first order of business to catch up on. Through those few things that have gone wrong causing the process of even more things to be delayed, the one piece of good news is, this new modem gives me more power than the old one, at the same price, what a blessing!

Welcome!

Since my blog on 1-7-17 life has been a bit busy, a little emotional, and cold.

Busy in the respect that I have been working on the curriculum for my Beauty School, ensuring the grammar I am using is consistent and specific and structured. I am really thankful that I was an instructor, teaching freshman hair design over and over to the point I was boredom. I am also thankful that I was a lead instructor in the same school which gave me an inside view of the administrative side of things.

God knew exactly what He was doing, He surrounded me with some awesome people that all helped mold me into the educator I am today, some of which will be helping me go forward with the undertaking of opening my Beauty School. However, without God none of this will even be, it's too big for me, but, with God, all things are possible, therefore, with God on my side, and His direction, it will be!

Another exciting thing took place in my life this week, I received the proof of my first book "So Thankful! Life Behind the Posts" it was exciting, and surreal, yet,  I did not want to get my hopes up too high, and, it was a good thing they weren't. After taking a picture of the box my book arrived in, along with the front and back of the book, I noticed a couple things that brought disappointing tears to my eyes.
So, it was back to emailing my cover designer and making some changes to the inside. Once again, yesterday, I resubmitted my book, I will get the results tomorrow then order another proof copy. My best friend of 37 years helped me through the emotional disappointment, I am really grateful for her friendship.
I really don't like relying on other people, especially in business matters. I am learning that I need to be mindful of who I choose to work with me, and for me. I am discovering, having the wrong people working beside me in business can cause a delay in crucial situations, which could be detrimental to the business at hand. There is a woman who is a very diligent in business that I am learning from. One of the things she teaches is to be careful of doing business with slothful people. I am thankful for her. God is putting business minded people in my life that are giving me the guidance I need, with the business ventures I'm on. I am grateful!

Sometimes I think I live in the wrong state, I live in Oregon and although it is beautiful, close to the mountains and the coast, we hardly ever get a good snow.
However, the end of last year and this year so far has proven quite different. this last week alone we have had from 9" to a foot of snow, it has been beautiful, and cold! our highs have not been out of the 20's, but I am really enjoying it, not the danger the ice is bringing, just the view,

Welcome!

Yesterday I ordered the proof copy of my first book, "So Thankful! Life Behind the Posts". It was an exciting, humbling, and surreal moment. I felt a great sense of accomplishment.

Circumstances were unfavorable, and the odds were against me during this journey, however, God was with me every step of the way. He had already placed people in my life to helped me in areas I am still a little weak, such as some computer skills. These people also had contacts that I needed the services of, in areas of editing, graphic design, and photography.

The Holy Spirit was also there every step of the way giving me little nudges and making me aware of what I did not know, or, simply reminding me of the things I needed to do to make sure everything was in order and complete.

I am a visual person, it is much easier for me to learn through a visual experience rather than following written directions, so this process has definitely been interesting. I am, however, learning to take those steps of faith, going in the direction the Spirit is leading me, even if it's as simple as clicking on the directions of a website that leads me where I need to be.

Proofing my book is one of the final steps before publishing. I also need to make sure everything is ready to go on my website, leaving it one of the main sources to go to for the purchasing of my book "So Thankful! Life Behind the Posts" along with the other books I am writing for purchase in the future.

God is teaching me so many lessons on this journey. I am learning that it's ok to have delays in the process, also, to keep moving forward with the dream or vision I have, realizing that as I move forward the right doors will open leaving plenty of room for entry.
I am also learning to accept the help of others.

This is only the beginning of my journey, even though it started a few years ago. I know that God has amazing things in store for me. My BEST is yet to come!

Welcome!

It's hard to believe it is already 2017, last year went SO fast!

Before the end of 2016, I made a list of eleven things that I needed to keep moving forward with, one of those, on my list, was this blog. Life can get really hectic and too much time can be spent in areas that don't really need the attention given to them.

I have, however, spent the time needed towards the goal of self-publishing my first book, "So Thankful! Life Behind the Posts". Unless there is another glitch, it is now ready for publishing. The copyright, and hopefully sending it to publishing, will happen this week.

I am well into the writing of my second book titled "I am". I started this book at the beginning of last year, the first chapter which I am currently working on is titled, ~getting to know Him~. I find it interesting that God is taking the journey of my life with all its trials, (that I am now looking at as),"stepping stones" in the learning process toward what God has called me to do. Prior to acknowledging the trials in my life as "stepping stones" I felt as though every trial was just something I needed to deal with, that they were simply a part of life and that's the way it was. I am now learning to look at these "stepping stones" for what they are, trying to be mindful of each step and the lesson I need to learn on my journey. I also try and look at them as, if God didn't have something really good in my future, the enemy, would not be working overtime in my life trying to delay it. Then I rejoice, sometimes with tears in my eyes, but I still rejoice.

Years ago I was explaining something to my spiritual mom, breaking down a situation that I was going through in a simplistic way. She told me that God was going to use me to teach people in that same simplistic way. I did not know then, nor do I know now to the fullest the many ways He has chosen to use me. I believe this blog and the books He has placed on my heart to write are only the beginning.

My husband and I sold our home in the summer of 2015, the market was not ideal for buying another home because it was a seller's market. Also, the real estate inventory was really low, which left us renting two storage units for our belongings and a room at my spiritual mom's house. Since renting that room we have moved two other times. We are now living in a house we purchased on Christmas eve, 2016, to fix up and sell. But again, the real estate market is not ideal. However, moving this third time was not a hard decision since the house has been remodeled like new. But, I did not want to unpack all of the boxes, I left them neatly stacked in a designated room, because, in my mind, if they were all unpacked that would mean this was a permanent residence.
But, my husband had other plans, having built shelving for some of the boxes in the basement. Therefore, ninety percent of the boxes are now unpacked. The room I designated for my office? I felt I was supposed to go through it, organize it, and empty a huge storage bin full of the materials I needed to prepare for my beauty school. Put them on a book shelve next to my desk and in the file cabinet, then to pick up where I left off in preparation to open my Beauty School and daycare. As I spent about four hours cleaning and organizing my office, I could see the reasons I felt I was supposed to get my office in order.
One reason is so my material won't be out of "sight out of mind", the second reason is because I don't work well with clutter, and third, reason, I believe, is because it is moving me in a forward direction towards the list I made in 2016 for 2017. God is not the God of chaos, and my office was a bit chaotic.

Before thanksgiving 2016 I moved my laptop out of the office to a more comfortable place, or so I thought. But along with the comfort, there were many distractions which made the comfort, uncomfortable. About a week ago I sensed God telling me to move back into the office, so I did, but with the move I also sensed Him telling me to unpack and organize, so I did. I have been taught, and have found to be true, that with each step of obedience, it leads to an open door. I am looking forward to seeing what's behind the door.
